Stock Market Holiday On May 1, Friday: The Indian stock market will remain closed on Friday, May 1, 2026. The markets will be closed on account of Maharashtra Day. Both the exchanges BSE and NSE will see no action in terms of price action.
May 1 is celebrated as Maharashtra Day every year. The day marks the formation of the state of Maharashtra. Maharashtra was formed on May 1, 1960.
Meanwhile, the commodity market will also remain shut on May 1, 2026, but for the morning session. Trading will take place as usual in the evening session on the MCX.
