Vedanta Demerger Record Date: Vedanta has announced the much-awaited record date for the demerger exercise. In an exchange filing, Vedanta said that May 1 will be considered the record date (Vedanta demerger record date) for determining the eligibility of shareholders' participation in the demerger.
"In consultation with VAML, TSPL, MEL and VISL, the Board has fixed May 1, 2026, as the record date for determining the shareholders eligible to receive consideration pursuant to the Scheme," Vedanta said in a filing.
Vedanta demerger will also come into effect from May 1, 2026, the company said.

As per the demerger ratio, Vedanta shareholders will receive 1 share of each of the resulting companies for every 1 share of the demerged company held on the record date.

The shares of all the resulting companies will list separately on the bourses. The resulting companies will first seek the exchanges' approval for listing. Once approval is received, the resulting companies will announce a listing date and inform shareholders via exchanges.
