Cost  Of  Living In India: The cost of living is highest in Mumbai among all the metro cities, said a latest survey by livingcost.org. On the other hand, the cost of living is lowest in Patna, the capital city of Bihar.

According to the survey data as of March 11, 2026, the average daily expense is more than Rs 2,000 in Mumbai, which makes it the most expensive city to live in India. An individual needs Rs 2,340 to spend one single day.

Mumbai is followed by Bengaluru, where the average daily expense is Rs 1,667. Delhi-NCR stands at the third spot, with Rs 1,617 needed to spend a day.

Pune is the fourth most expensive city in terms of average expense. As per the data, a person needs to spend Rs 1,600 daily to live.

Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai are at the fifth, sixth, and seventh spots in the list of the cost of living per day. For Hyderabad, the average daily expense is Rs 1,473, while it is Rs 1,393 for Ahmedabad and Rs 1,370 for Chennai.

Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, is at the eighth spot, with Rs 1,220 as the average daily expense.

Kolkata is the cheapest among the metro cities when it comes to average daily expenses. To spend a day in Kolkata, one needs to spend Rs 1,203.

Patna is the cheapest among all, with an individual requiring Rs 977 to spend daily.
